Hello lovelies! Today I am sharing some more career advice, this time on what employers search for when they are looking for college interns. Here is a list of the 8 most requested qualities in interns.
The ability to talk and feel comfortable interacting with a variety of people with different backgrounds and experiences is a highly valued skill in the 21st century job market. Communication skills are basically essential in every field you go into, and consistently rank up there on requested skills to have.
Being able to manage your time well and handle multi-tasking on several projects at once is a crucial and super useful skill for employees to have. If you have past experiences or school-related activities that highlight this ability, you’re in a really good position to be noticed.
Being immature at a job interview or at the job itself reflects poorly on you. Be professional, polite and knowledgeable during your work-related experiences.
Attention to detail
Noticing the small details and paying attention to them is such a great skil to have. Figure out a way to show this off in an interview with some past experience or project and you will definitely impress.
Being able to handle yourself well in an interview is key. Interviews are your chance at making a great first impression and landing the job. Learn more secrets to interviews here.
These days, you absolutely need to have the basic computer skills down (Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.), but it’s even more impressive if you are a master (or at least have decent skills) in other programs like Photoshop, InDesign, and other similar programs.
Being able to prove you’re independent and be a leader, as well as be a team player, is super important as an intern. Taking initiative on new projects and asking for more work will leave a great impression with your employer.
Last but not least, have some confidence in yourself and your skills! Put the effort in and prove that you are the right person for the job! You got this 🙂
